My name is Jaslene Diaz and I`m a 12th grader at Liguori Academy. I am from Tampa Florida but I moved to Pennyslvania when I was 3. A few months ago my Principal brought up the SailFuture trip and asked if I wanted to participate, of course I said yes without a second thought. What is the SailFuture trip? It is expedition that takes a select amount of students out to experience life at sea.

Which brings us here today. Though it was a long stressful journey to get here, I can already tell it will all be worth it. First, a few friends and I stay up the whole night because our first flight was at 6am and we had to be at the airport at 4 in the morning! We were all so tired but luckily the first flight was only about 2 hours long. We first landed in Charlotte, North Carolina which was super exciting because I had never been. We had a 2 hour layover until the next flight which was exhausting, but at least we had time to explore and move around. Then our second flight was 4 hours to Barbados! When we arrived, our group met Ms. Nanna and Hunter who explained and showed us what the boat is about and what we will be doing.

We drove from the airport to meet the small boat, in order to board our ship. We two sea turtles, touched the water, and got to feel the wind! We later met our ship crew, Captain Bailey and Will, who broke down the rules for us and made feel welcome. We are so excited for the next week abroad Whatever It Takes!
