Day 4: First Voyage, Kinda Nervous
Aeryn · Student
Envision this... you're on a boat, 12:30 in the morning, water surrounding you as you sail amongst thing's you've never seen, land out of view most of the trip, blue-footed boobies gliding around the boat as you finally get the surge of wind to push you towards the islands you've spent 107 miles and 17 hours trying to reach. I experienced this firsthand, and honestly throughout the expedition, the nausea and pain wracking my body made the sight all that more worth it. Pulling into the port, you're surrounded by the green foliage making up the island, and the trees littering the edges with beautiful greens, reds, and sages were stunning. The architectural design of the houses with bright shades of turquoise, coral, and dandelions made the mountains stand out and pop all that more. I've never wished to have my sketchbook to draw more than right now, but these views will never leave my memory.
The journey here was rough, even with sleeping through it. The waters were rough on my body's systems, and although I hadn't gotten extremely sick, there were times I felt extremely nauseous and only wished to sleep. Despite this, I had the privilege to steer the boat for a bit, which was more fun than anticipated!
That's all I have to write about what I've seen, thanks for reading.
