On Day 7 we caught a Blue Marlin

Today is 6.28.26. It has been an amazing day, let me start from this morning. I woke up and we had our daily breakfast meetings, todays breakfast was oatmeal and a little other things, we decided to do something light because it is passage day, and as I'm typing this we are in the middle of the ocean!
Anyway during our breakfast talk, the crew gave us some job duties that need to be filled and cleared for passage. I work in galley, so what I had to do was make PB and J and some turkey ham and cheese sandwiches, and make sure everything was cleaned up and locked up when we finished.
After that we got called up to the cockpit for our debrief on all the duties that were completed to prepare for passage and received our roles of everything to expect for the journey ahead. Captain Bailey helped us prepare for pre departure, and we were also given our shifts. I am on shift 3 which is 18:00 to 21:00.
Before my shift I took a nap to help me prepare for the long night ahead. This will help we stay alert and ready at the helm. I was woekn up 10 minutes until my shit started and I put my life jacket on and headed up to the deck. Riley start our shift off and not too long into the shift we heard the finishing line snag. Will took over the helm and Mike ran to grab his rod to reel in the fish. It felt surreal and exciting to reel in a fish after our line had been trolling for a while. We hooked a blue marlin and all got to look at it. There were thoughts about having whatever fish we caught for dinner, but it was undersized so we released it off the hook and sent it back out into the deep blue sea.
After the excitement Will got the boat back on track for us and as soon as we got back on course it started raining. I had to whip out my rain jacket for the first time and despite the rain Ms. Nanna had some great music playing which kept my anxiety at bay. As I am about to take the helm I hope we continue to have a smooth passage back to Barbados!
